29th International Symposium on Distributed Simulation and Real-Time Applications (DS-RT 2025)
Welcome to the 29th International Symposium on Distributed Simulation and Real‑Time Applications (DS‑RT 2025), held this year in the beautiful and culturally rich city of Prague, Czech Republic. DS‑RT continues to serve as a premier venue for researchers, academics, and industry professionals to exchange ideas and present their latest work in the fields of Distributed Simulation and Real‑Time Applications.
DS‑RT serves as a forum for simulationists from academia, industry, and research labs to present recent research results targeting the growing overlap between large‑distributed simulations and real‑time applications. Since its inception in 1997, DS‑RT has grown into a pivotal event for advancing simulation technologies. This year’s theme, “Simulation‑Powered Innovation: Driving the Future of Digital Ecosystems”, highlights the transformative role of simulation in shaping modern digital environments—from the metaverse and collaborative virtual worlds to pervasive computing and intelligent actuator systems.
Program Highlights
This year, DS‑RT received a large number of submissions from 20 countries, with strong representation from Europe and Asia. After a rigorous review process involving at least three reviewers per paper, the program committee selected 21 full papers, 8 short papers, and several extended abstracts.
- A keynote address by Prof. Dr. Hans Vangheluwe (University of Antwerp, Belgium) on “The Twinning Paradigm,” offering a structured vision of digital twins across the lifecycle of cyber‑physical systems.
- A special session and invited talk on “Using Uppaal and Actors for Property Checking of Mutual Exclusion Algorithms in Anonymous Memory.”

Awards
The Best Paper Award will be announced during the Gala Dinner. As a reminder, last year’s winner was: PARSIR: a Package for Effective Parallel Discrete Event Simulation on Multi‑processor Machines by Francesco Quaglia.
This year, DS‑RT will also present a DS‑RT Life‑Time Technical Achievement Award, with the winner to be announced during the DS‑RT 2025 event.
