The computing and wireless communication technologies have gone through expeditious advancements in the recent past, which has brought the dawn of emerging applications that are contributing to our quality of life. Among other technologies, mobile ad hoc networks have played a pivotal role in providing various kinds of applications such as wireless sensor network applications, and intelligent transportation systems. Recently, another term has surfaced referred to as Flying Ad hoc Network (FANET) that incorporates unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs or drones) and fixed infrastructure nodes as communicating entities. Various applications have emerged with the introduction of FANETs, including the shipment of goods, home package delivery, crop monitoring, agricultural surveillance, and rescue operations. This special session will explore modeling and performance evaluation of drones and UAVs in emergent applications. We are looking for contributions that describe novel techniques, new models for energy, communication and path for UAVs, interesting applications etc.Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Optimal Dimensioning and Performance Analysis of Inter-Drone
- Energy, communication, and path modeling of UAVs
- UAV applications and UAV-based systems
- Network protocols and communication systems for UAV-based solutions
- Algorithms and intelligent solutions for UAV-based deployments
- Sensing solutions based on UAVs
- UAV swarms and interaction between UAVs and IoT solutions
- Integration of UAVs in Smart City solutions
- Real-time application in UAV systems
